Oat Straw Mulching Reduces Interril Erosion and Nutrient Losses Caused by Runoff in a Newly Planted Peach Orchard

چکیده

Soil erosion is one of the major problems in agricultural areas world, and straw mulching a conservation practice that may reduce soil runoff. How much necessary to runoff? The objectives this study were quantify characterize runoff under different levels oat mulching, as well analyze cost erosion. An experiment was performed site with recently tilled for peach orchard implementation. In ridges row orchard, plots placed order nutrient losses by surface due interril on dates 23 August 2015 13 March 2016, considering treatments composed amounts (0, 1, 2, 4 8 Mg ha−1). results showed use decreased runoff, especially doses ≥2 ha−1, replace available nutrients P, K, Ca via mineral fertilizer varies from US$ 75.4 (no mulching) 2.70 per hectare (8 ha−1 mulching).

Straw Mulching Reduces the Harmful Effects of Extreme Hydrological and Temperature Conditions in Citrus Orchards

Extreme weather conditions with negative impacts can strongly affect agricultural production. In the Danjiangkou reservoir area, citrus yields were greatly influenced by cold weather conditions and drought stress in 2011. Soil straw mulching (SM) practices have a major effect on soil water and thermal regimes. A two-year field experiment was conducted to evaluate whether the SM practices can he...

Nutrient losses from manure and fertilizer applications as impacted by time to first runoff event.

Nutrient losses to surface waters following fertilization contribute to eutrophication. This study was conducted to compare the impacts of fertilization with inorganic fertilizer, swine (Sus scrofa domesticus) manure or poultry (Gallus domesticus) litter on runoff water quality, and how the duration between application and the first runoff event affects resulting water quality. Fertilizers were...

Nutrient losses in runoff from feedlot surfaces as affected by unconsolidated surface materials

Beef cattle feedlots contain unconsolidated surface materials (loose manure pack) that accumulate during a feeding cycle. The effects of varying amounts of unconsolidated surface materials on runoff nutrient losses are not well understood. The objectives of this study were to (1) compare runoff nutrient losses from feedlot surfaces containing varying amounts of unconsolidated surface materials,...

Evaluation of compost and straw mulching on soil-loss characteristics in erosion plots of potatoes in Prince Edward Island, Canada

The intensive use of Prince Edward Island (PEI) farmland for potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) production draws concern because of soil physical degradation under the intense tillage and other heavy traffic associated with the mechanisation of this crop, and the resulting vulnerability of sloping fields to hydraulic erosion. Growing public consciousness and pressure in favour of sustainable agricul...

Animal Waste Bmp Impacts on Sediment and Nutrient Losses in Runoff from the Owl Run Watershed

The results of the 10-year study conducted in the Owl Run watershed clearly indicate the beneficial impacts of the best management practices (BMPs) on the surface water quality. The main objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of a system of animal waste BMPs for improving surface water quality. Precipitation, streamflow, total suspended solids, nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P...
